Lion’s Heart is a participant in the PRESIDENT’S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD program as a Certifying Organization.
This Award is a Presidential honor that recognizes the valuable contributions of volunteers nationwide who are answering President Barak Obama's call to serve others through their current volunteer activities or lifetime service. As a Certifying Organization, Lion's Heart will verify applying Member's service hours, and distribute the Award to all that qualify and apply for the award.
If you meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the table below, perform the steps below to apply for the award.
To be eligible to receive the PRESIDENT'S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD, there are two levels of the award varying by age and hours of service completed within a 12-month period: May 1 - April 30. Appy for the award level based on the Member's age on April 30th. (Due to the shortened 2009/2010 year, hours will start on September 1, 2009 but will end on April 30, 2010. Unfortunately, the program does not allow any prorating of hours even though this year has been shortened. Members must perform the same amount of hours for these awards in less time. Lion's Heart regrets any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause but it is not our program.)

Individual Lion’s Heart Members interested in receiving this award must do the following:
1. Log on to: https://www.presidentialserviceawards.gov/tgact/ros/dspROSlogin.cfm
2. Set up your user name and password. Use your full first and last name, as this will be the name printed on the award.
3. Check the box that says "Are you 14 years old or older" even if you are 13. They are only asking the age of the person filing out the form. When you check the age category, it is extremely important you check the age group you were in on April 30th. No exceptions. If you applied last year and are applying for a new year, make sure you have checked the appropriate age category and change if necessary!!!
4. Once completed, click on Create your Record of Service. Then click on the "Profile" tab. Go to "Your Record of Service Key."
5. The Record of Service Key is the specific code for Lion's Heart and needs to be typed in exactly: MJG-19910 (include the dash). Then click "Update Profile." IF YOU MISS THIS STEP AND DO NOT TYPE IN THIS CODE, WE HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING YOU APPLIED FOR THE AWARD. YOUR NAME WILL NOT SHOW UP AND AN AWARD WILL NOT BE ORDERED.
6. Click on "My Service" and then click on the box "Create New Record."
7. Under General, it doesn't matter what you put. Under "Date of Service" be sure to put in April 30th of the year you are applying.
8. Under Hours of Service, record the Member's total hours (NO NEED TO PUT IN DETAILS - JUST THE TOTAL HOURS FOR THE YEAR) within a 12-month period: May 1 - April 30. The total must match the total you have logged into the Lion's Heart website on April 30th.
9. Under Location of Service and Description of Service, you can put whatever you want because it doesn't matter.
10. Click on "Add this Activity." You are finished! Congratulations!!!!
11. An award cannot be ordered unless you go through these steps on the web site above.
12. You have until May 1st at noon of each year to apply. No extension and no exceptions can be granted.
The awards will be presented at a Lion's Heart "Pride of the Lion's" Award Dinner in June. Award recipients will also be highlighted on the Lion's Heart website.
